Prohibited & Restricted Items
Products and conduct that are not allowed or require prior approval on Ceylona.
1. Prohibited items
- Illegal, stolen, counterfeit or fraudulently labelled goods.
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives or instructions primarily intended to cause harm.
- Controlled drugs, drug paraphernalia, tobacco, nicotine products or unlawful alcohol.
- Human remains, protected wildlife, ivory or products made from endangered species.
- Pornographic exploitation, hate material or goods promoting violence against protected groups.
- Recalled, dangerously defective or unlawfully marketed products.
- Personal data, financial credentials, forged documents or access to compromised accounts.
- Mass-produced goods deceptively represented as handmade or Sri Lankan-made.
2. Restricted categories
Food, tea, spices, cosmetics, Ayurveda products, supplements, plants, gems, precious metals, children’s products and electrical goods may require licences, testing, ingredient disclosures, origin evidence, warnings or prior Ceylona approval. Cross-border restrictions may differ by destination.
3. Cultural heritage and authenticity
Sellers must not unlawfully remove, reproduce or trade protected antiquities, sacred objects or culturally sensitive heritage. Claims about origin, traditional technique, gemstone treatment, organic status or therapeutic benefit must be truthful and supportable.
4. Enforcement
Ceylona may request evidence, remove a listing without notice where urgent, notify affected users, preserve records, withhold related funds or report suspected illegality to competent authorities.
