Ratnapura — literally the 'City of Gems' — has supplied sapphire, moonstone and other precious stones for over a thousand years, and its gem cutters and silversmiths still set and polish by hand. Every stone sold through Ceylona comes with the cutter's own account of where it was found, so a Ceylon sapphire or moonstone piece you buy here is traceable to a named workshop, not an anonymous supply chain.
