Shell bowls, cutlery, coir — nothing wasted

Coconut shells, husks and coir that would otherwise be burned as waste are turned into bowls, spoons, lamps and other everyday ware by craftspeople around Gampaha — sanded through nine grades of paper until the grain shows, finished with food-safe oil rather than varnish. It's some of the most genuinely zero-waste craft on Ceylona, made from a material that costs the maker nothing to source.
