In the maker's words

This is thrown by hand in the roadside kilns at Molagoda, using local clay and terracotta. It is wood-fired with coconut husk, which is what gives the smoky patches. Because every piece is made by hand, small differences in colour and finish are part of it — no two come out quite the same.
